I'm looking for "The Reisswitz Story" by Bill Leeson
Hi, I'm a newby here and looking for "The Reisswitz Story" by Bill Leeson
(Sorry for my wrong English...)
I'm I_Masa from Japan, studying history of Kriegsspiel.
I'm really thank you for "Origin of the Kriegsspiel" article.
That truly help my studies.
I'd like to study about Reisswitz's story more.
So, I want to buy a book, The Reisswitz Story: Five Articles from the "Militair Wochenblatt".
But this book is not sell anywhere.
Where can I buy it?
Please give me some advise....
Thank you.

Thank you for your reply, MJ1!
Yes. That link helped my studies. Very Impressive!
so,
Is Bill's "The Reisswitz Story" same contents as the link "Origin of the Kriegsspiel"?
If so, It is not necessary to buy the book...
Does anyone know about this book's contents?
Thank you.

ummmmm I want to read Reisswitz story....
Does anyone knows how to contact Mr. Leeson?
I send E-mail to him, but it was rejected by the recipient domain.
I think e-mail address he used around 2005 is no longer available.

Re: I'm looking for "The Reisswitz Story" by Bill Leeson
Sorry I don't think you will be able to contact Bill directly as he is rather quite old now and not on e-mail any more.
A couple of people who might be able to help.
Richard at this address: - http://toofatlardies.co.uk/index.php?main_page=contact_us
Richard runs the web site / game company that has taken the work done by Bill and published it. Richard might know of the book you are asking about. I have not heard of it myslef.
The other chap is Martin and he can be contacted from this forum.

Martin is a good friend of Bill and he might know more information.
Sorry I can not help any further.

Just spotted your post I_Masa. Yes I can help, if you have not already located the 'Reisswitz Story'. It is quite short, consisting of 5 articles originally published in a military journal.
I was interested to see you are based in Japan. Did you know that General Meckel served in Japan as a military adviser in the late 19th C, and is believed to have introduced k/spiel to the Japanese army?
Regards
Martin

Thank you for reply, Martin!
I was just about sending you an e-mail.
I'm so glad to receive a favorable reply.
Could you contact me for my e-mail address ( pasteur1822@gmail.com ) if possible?
I'm still thinking of buying the book.
Meckel is one of the famouse person in Japan, but not so much known about war game. He introduced staff rides, and other germany style military education to Japan at army war college.
Who first introduced kriegsspiel to Japan is unknown.
I believe that kriegsspiel was known in Bakumatsu period because of some kriegsspiel apparatus remain. In addition, some germany (prussian) officer visited Japan as military counsellor in this period.
"兵棊教範"(Heiki kyohan), which is the Japanese traslation of "Anleitung zum Krieg" written by Meckel, was published in Japan in 1881.
And "略法兵棊教例"(Ryakuho heiki kyorei), which is the Japanese traslation of von Verdy's "Beitrag zum Kriegsspiel", was published in 1882.
These books and "free" kriegsspiel widespread in Japan in earlier Meiji Era.
It was before Meckel decided to come to Japan.
Afterwards, he visited Japan in 1885.
These books are online available to read.
