MJ1 - Hello
Mark J,
Fairly new to the KS group but a gamer of 20+ years.
I have run a trial KS game using the Shenendoah Valley as the stomping ground and hope to give it a run for some players at my house this year.
Also I will look at my time to see if I can run a Forum game over a weekend to involve people spread across the world. That might be quite a good challenge.
The problem with PBEM is waiting on responses from players and all it takes is one player not being around for several weeks to totally lose the momentum of the game.
If you could run a forum game with all players agreeing to be online at an agreed time (s) that would be pretty cool and allow some fast play.
I would also add that if players could sign up for Skype that would allow conference calls and even quicker play.
Lets see how the year develops, who knows I might end up with lots of free time if the UK economy nose dives as is predicted..

Re: MJ1 - Hello
Thanks for the post.
It is possible to run a chatbox facility on this forum which could be used instead of Skype which I fear could be a techie step too far for some.

Re: MJ1 - Hello
If you fear that skype is a step too far then perhaps you could fear that use of Chatbox is too much or even using a computer....
Where does the fear stop...
For running a game being able to talk to someone is very useful and can take far less time than typing. Skype is free and with the conference facility I think if I was running something online I would want to talk to people.
Otherwise you might as well as do it with E-mail....
If you are going to harness the use of the WWW Skype would seem the way to go for me. Each to their own opinon...
But as ever the proof is in the doing and getting people involved. As this and the Yahoo site have a low turnover of input it could all be academic...

Re: MJ1 - Hello
I think the idea of using something like GoogleChat could be very interesting. This would enable a game to be operated with people in locations remote from one another and have exchanges somewhat like the arrival of couriers. Just a bit too much for me to cope with technologically.

Using Skype and Chat applications

I'm interested, if only because I find getting to events difficult.
If you can put up with someone new to KS, I'd more than willing to join in.

Re: MJ1 - Hello
It is NP if you are new to KS as all you need is the ability to think and get orders typed / or spkoen to the Ref.
I will see how this year progresses and if anyone else expresses an interest I will maybe see if we can get a virtual KS game done. I am sure the more tech savy users can organise Skype and as it is free (bar PC speakers and Mic) then it should not be a cost issue.
Anyway thanks for the interest and I will keep noe of your details should I organise something.
Hmmm I had an idea that maybe you could include remote players for a live event. I.e. I am running the game this Feb and I wonder what it would take to get people involved who are not able to physically turn up....
I need to think through the issues but it might be worth a thread to discuss the Pro's and Con's of which I can see some already the more I type...
