Potential source of Kriegsspiel miniatures

I'm one of those strange people who derives no joy from painting minis (actually, more like massive frustration! )

So I've kept on looking for ways to have a larger collection of Kriegsspiel blocks that wouldn't require even the (admittedly rather pathetic) amount of painting they require.

Thomas Evans is working up a means of printing and laser-die-cutting Kriegsspiel pieces onto high-density fiberboard. I've outlined what I want, and he's wondering if the rest of the Kriegsspiel crowd would want what I'm planning on, or something different.

Currently, Tom says these will cost around 45 cents each.

He also described the printing process:

"The HDF wood has a coating that, when heated with an image, becomes part of the wood. I use the laser to cut the shapes, and then use a high res image in the sublimation process. Maybe I should show some of that on the page."

Just like James Sterrett did, I've also contacted Thomas Evans to ask him for more information. I really want to order some pieces. They look nice. If there are more of you people who want some playing pieces from James, maybe he can lower the price per piece!

Hey, you just mentioned about 45 cents. Is it eurocent?

They do look very good and certainly better than my hand painted ones... Will watch this to see if I can be tempted to spend more money....

Did you allready receive those KriegsSpiel pieces which you ordered (Thomas Evans)?

Not yet -- he's still working them up. I'm expecting some new pictures soon.

I've also worked with him to set up a set of curved divider rulers for movement, that I've had in flimsy plastic. (These are hard to describe. Imagine that each movement rate is a concave indentation into the measuring tool, so it has a series of points (pointy tips) to measure with.)

Thomas Evans posted this info to me yesterday, it looks good (the priece is going down and there more pieces available) :

"I can do all of the pieces. I worked out a way to do so.
Some of them I would have to determine the size. The skirmish platoon looks like 1 cm x .5 cm.
Calvery, Infantry 1/2 battalion, Wagons, and arty are $.30 each.
Troops, and skirmish are $.25 each.
The above are general names. I can do all the variants.
The rulers are $6.00 each.
I have not tried the 1 or 2 man posts yet.
We also have the ability to put differnt languages on the rulers. We would just need the translation."
