Printing TFL Maps in proper scale here in the US

Post  Pete Maidhof on Fri Dec 18, 2009 9:03 pm

Has anyone come up with an appropriate way to print the "Too Fat Lardies" Koniggratz map in proper scale here in the US with its inherent paper options? I printed a single test page of the pdf along with the map key (one of the final pages) and was surprised to finally realize that my output was out of scale even after trying a couple of different printer options. For proper scaling I think that I will need to either see if a commercial printing company (Staple, Kinkos or the like) will print it or fanagel something at the office.

Got my blocks yesterday, no other ideas on the US paper map printing issue?

Happy New Year.

Yeah, that is an absolute nightmare for us on this side of the pond...

My solution was to go to a digital printhouse here in Milwaukee. They took the effort one further for me, though. They printed the maps to size and then mounted them (each piece) on laminated PVC board. It makes for a really cool display and has made my maps pretty much impervious to minor spills.

That said, it's not cheap. The Meckel ran me north of $100. Still, it's seen VERY good use. To assist players, I also created -- VERY painstakingly I may add -- a cut-and-paste 50% scale reference map that I have about 12 copies of in black-and-white. Costs ca. $4 a copy, but the players appreciate the effort.

Best to you.
