Seven Years War Kriegsspiel Maps
I'm wondering if anyone is doing Seven Years War Kriegsspiel, and if so, what are you using for maps?
Also, the same question goes for the Peninsular War?
I'm new to Kriegsspiel, just picked up a copy of the Lardies 1824 rules, and the waterloo map. Excited to get something going.

Sunday 2nd May - army-level game set in Europe
1761, and involving about 70,000 men per side.
Is that convienient for you?

Seven Years War game
That sounds really great and should be a lot of fun, However, I unfortunately live in Oregon in the states right now. If I ever make it over their in the future perhaps we can have a game.
In the meantime, would you mind giving me some details on what you will be doing for the game (Rules, Maps, etc).
Ive read through the forums about the various maps people are using, and conducted some pretty serious scouring of the internet looking for roughly contemporary maps of the SYW battlefield areas, and the same for the Peninsular War. I'm having a hell of a time finding anything suitable. Mainly the issue is scale, there are plenty of 1:200000 or 1:300000 maps out there, but they usually do not include the topo details and, and are far too zoomed out it seems.
Thanks,
JD

Re: Seven Years War Kriegsspiel Maps
I don't think there are suitable contemporary 7-Years War maps, as the art of map-making had not yet developed to the necessary degree by then. I suspect it was no coincidence that k/spiel emerged when it did, as detailed topographical maps were starting to become available in the early 19th C. From memory, Reisswitz junior mentions a recent topographical map of Saxony in the 1824 preface.
All is not lost though, as you can use any of the published maps for a 7YW battle. Koniggratz-Sadowa for example covers a part of Bohemia, where Frederick and the Austrians operated. It does included a railway line, but with 40 A3 map squares, you can avoid that bit. Apart from that, I doubt the landscape would have changed a great deal from the 1750's. I'm not runnig the May game, but I've a feeling the designer is planning to use part of that map.
Hope that helps.
