Perhaps the best period map site we have yet found

Perhaps the best period map site we have yet found - from Russia, but by no means confined to Russian or Cyrillic maps - is HERE at http://history-maps.ru/

Google Translate does a good job of translating the cyrillic weblinks.

Have foraged numerous original period maps from here tonight, for possible future use, and VERY pretty some of them are too, covering regions as diverse as Japan Morocco and Ethiopia, in time periods going right back to 1570.

Yes there's some very interesting stuff there, and thanks for posting it.

Undeterred by the Cyrillic, I just started clicking on folders. Because that takes you to collections of thumbnail maps, you soon get a feel for what's there.
