Re: 2011 Events
We are running 2 games this autumn:
Sunday 23 October – a map campaign set the Russo-Turkish War in the Caucasus theatre of eastern Turkey in 1877. For more details on this one see http://forum.kriegsspiel.org.uk/t196-october-2011-game#1094
Sunday 20 November – subject to be advised
Both games will be held at our usual venue at the village hall in Little Gaddesden, a few miles N of Hemel Hempstead. We will aim to start at 11 am and finish shortly by about 4.30 pm.
We are looking to get an idea of numbers for the October game, so if you are thinking of coming please let me know. Newcomers are always welcome, so if you would like an idea of what to expect, please drop me a line too.

October & November UK games
As previously advised, our next game is on Sunday 23 October. This is set in the Caucasus theatre in eastern Anatolia during the 1877 war between Russia & Turkey. There is more information on this one at http://forum.kriegsspiel.org.uk/t196-october-2011-game#1094
I have just been advised that the Sunday 20 November game will be a detachments (division/brigade) level game set against the background of the 1848 revolutions. A deposed leader, a transitional government needing to exert authority, the threat of foreign intervention. Comparisons with any other events, real or fictitious are entirely unintended!
Both games are due to start at 11 am, and will be held at the Little Gaddesden village hall, a few miles N of Hemel Hempstead.
We are hoping to get an idea of numbers for both, so if you are thinking of coming to either, please drop me a line. As ever, new players are very welcome.

I hope to be at the October Game if all goes to plan... Slight issue of a meal the night before so not quite certain how that will upset the plan but meal is in the Stratford Upon Avon so close to home... Happy to help umpire or play.

Re: 2011 Events
Last Sunday’s game was a refight of the battle at Alaca Dag on the Caucasus front between Russia & Turkey in 1877, and resulted in a Russian victory and the capture of the entire Turkish team! Thanks again to Paul Dowden for a different & entertaining scenario.
Our next game is at 11 am on Sunday 20 November, at our usual venue at the village hall in Little Gaddesden, a few miles N of Hemel Hempstead. This one will be a traditional horse & musket kriegsspiel, between divisional-sized forces. Units will be infantry battalions, cavalry squadrons and artillery batteries, and most players will command a brigade-sized force.
Cost for the day will probably be £5 to cover the hire cost of the hall, and tea, coffee etc. Newcomers are always welcome, and if this is your first game you get in free .
We would like to get an idea of numbers before finalising the scenario, so if you are hoping to come, and have not yet contacted me, can you please do so. Ditto if you have not played before and would like an idea of what to expect.

A reminder that our next game is at 11 am on Sunday 20 November.
This one will be a traditional horse & musket kriegsspiel, between divisional-sized forces. Units will be infantry battalions, cavalry squadrons and artillery batteries, and most players will command a mixed brigade-sized force.

Re: 2011 Events
Many thanks Steve & the umpires for an excellent game today, and a real cliff-hanger.
Seesaw fighting, where a half hour made all the difference. A fugitive archduke, and wagonloads of hijacked gold. Who could ask for more ...........and I lost btw

Re: 2011 Events
Yes thanks to Steve for a great scenario idea and plenty of choices for people to make and ended with a good fight at the end..
It was certainly fun to watch as an umpire.
What do we have next year Martin?

Re: 2011 Events
•Saturday 18 February - set in France in 1944, after the break-out from Normandy. The Allied divisions fan-out heading through eastern France & Belgium for the German border. The Germans desparately try and cobble together a defence.
•Sunday 4 March 2012 - probably an English Civil War campaign.
•Sunday 15 April 2012 - possibly a hypothetical battle during the 1809 campaign on the Danube between France & Austria (if Paul is willing). We normally have quite a high turn-out for the April game as 5 regulars come back for their university hols.
Howzat?
Martin
PS I ought to post these details under 2012 Events too
