Game Host Please

Post  Guest on Thu Mar 31, 2016 4:54 pm

is it possible that whoever is going to be host of a game to put it on the battle thread.  I really do not want to wait 90+ minutes waiting for a game only to find out that the person who is hosting I can not connect too, even when there was one available host that all could connect too was not used.

Which host do we have that everyone can connect to?

Often we don't know who the host will be as we do not know who is playing.

Martin J can host but he rarely plays. I host but at the moment (and I don't know why) you cannot connect to me. Andrew can host but if my memory serves we sometimes get more lag via him which is of course not his fault.

Well I guess after sitting and waiting to play a game for about 2 hours only to be left out when someone was there who could host us all. It was a bit upsetting. I guess I will just stick to the PBEM part of the campaign game until something happens with my connection or someone can figure out how to open their PC's like Martin (J) and Kevin.

Mike,

I have followed the Norbsoft instructions on how to open my ports for hosting.  Send me a pm if you want to test before Sunday.

How did that go? We need to get more hosting options that are "Morsey-friendly" Wink

We were unable to link up to try. How about 1300BST / 0800EST on Saturday morning? No game, just ten minutes to see if Mike, you and anyone else can connect.

Am hoping to play a bit more often, and can certainly host in the future, as I have a good connection speed. Poor old Kevin has born the burden of hosting for too long, in addition to being our main modder, and producing most of the scenarios.

However I am currently in dispute with my ISP, as I have been experiencing connection drops and other problems since before Xmas. The issue is a damaged underground cable. Fixing it should be straightforward technically, but the delay is due to the need to get local authority approval to dig up the road. It’s the delay in getting that which has caused them to miss all of the previously notified dates. Unfortunately the new date for completion is 1st June!

Hopefully some others will be able to start hosting too, as well as producing scenarios, which is quite easy using the Scenario generator (again courtesy of Uncle Billy Enterprises).
