Naval Action_'Trafalgar'

Post  Grog on Thu Apr 21, 2016 12:20 pm

I bought this game recently. Just learning to sail a cutter in the open world.

There are some nice video's out there. Thought this one was worth sharing.

1700s to early 1800s naval warfare is one of my favourite periods to wargame. Thing is I just don't have the spare time to invest in learning another game and to be any use at this you need to spend 000s of hours with it.

Thanks for posting this Grog.

I watched the video right through; it looks like a fantastic multiplayer naval for people to experiment with when they have more time.

Its particularly impressive how the protagonist manouevres his frigate in and out of the enemy line using its agility to damage larger enemy ships while avoiding damage himself. From my reading, around the 1810 Mascarene campaign and elsewhere, this is not unrealistic.

I imagine a campaign with the KS attribute of hidden movement could easily be constructed around the tactical game; something in the Caribbean should provide lots of options for the players.

Also on the subject of naval, players of the recent Jutland game at Gaddesden might be interested in this 20 minute video animation which describes the historical campaign.
