Bulletins of the French Army

Bulletin of 18-May, 1813:

Soldiers, you have just endured one of the most arduous twenty days in the history of the French Empire. Thousands of your comrades have been stricken from the muster rolls. Thousands of mothers, wives, and daughters have learned or will learn that they are now widows and orphans. Their tears shall stain the soil of France.

Their blood and those tears were not shed in vain. France has been saved! The empire shall endure! All of France shall celebrate your name. All of Europe will tremble in your wake.

Many of you, mere boys, have now become men; men who are veterans worthy of inclusion into the Grand Armee.  Our task has not yet ended; let us summon one more supreme effort to annihilate, through force of arms, all of our enemies on the continent.

Soldiers, I ask for more hardship. I ask for more blood. I ask for you to march under the Imperial Eagle and into the summer sun until we destroy all the enemies of France.

Our task is not done. I am with you.
