Numberical strength?

I am working my way through the TFL rules and just now trying to understand assaults. Section 4.1.2 discusses the numerical strength component of assaults, taking into account the size of both parties, including losses.

In mixed combats (cavalry vs infantry, infantry vs artillery, etc.) how are the different arms compared? e.g. do 4 squadrons = 1 full battalion?
