Who is running this one? Sounds like something Rich from 2FL ran for his group some time ago? Should be fun and a great subject matter....

Re: 2012 Events
Hi Callum, welcome to the forum and there is really nothing to learn to get involved. If you attend a session at the location near Hemel all you need is yourself and the ability to think / communicate what you want your troops to do. The game is all under the hood and run by the person who has designed the session.
If you want to see how it works from an umpire POV then each game is different and the rules will vary from game to game depending on who is running it and what time period is involved.
Best for you to just turn up (free for first session) and take your pick of playing or umpiring. Best to let people know before hand that you are coming as designing games need to know numbers of players and umpires...
I hope this helps a little. You will really get a better idea of it all by turning up if you can?

You'll be very welcome.
You can also check out the k/spiel rules & maps sold by TooFatLardies. These are new editions of the 19th C Prussian game originally published by Bill Leeson. We often use this stuff for horse & musket/rifle era games.

Next UK game
A reminder that our next game is on Saturday 18 February, probably starting at 11 am. Usual venue in Little Gaddesden village hall, just N of Hemel Hempstead.
This one is set in France in 1944, after the break-out from Normandy. The Allied divisions fan-out heading through eastern France & Belgium for the German border. The Germans desperately try and cobble together a defence. Most players will probably be corps & army commanders.
We are working on the scenario at the moment, and would like an idea of numbers so we can finalise the design. If you are interested in coming, and haven't already done so, can you please contact me at

Re: 2012 Events
A further reminder that our next UK k/spiel will be on Saturday 18th February starting at 11 am. We will probably finish about 4.30 pm. As usual the game will be held at the village hall in Little Gaddesden, a few miles N of Hemel Hempstead. This is modern, warm & dry, with plenty of space and a separate room for the umpire team.
Cost for the game will be £5, to cover the charge for hiring the hall, and also tea, milk coffee etc which we provide. New players are very welcome, and play free for their first game.
The subject for this game is the Western Front is late summer/autumn 1944, after the Allied breakout from Normandy. The scenario is broadly agreed, but we need to firm-up on the command-level at which players will operate.
For that we need a better idea of numbers, and would therefore ask you to get in touch ASAP if you are hoping to come, and have not already contacted me.
Thanks
Martin

Would anyone else who is planning to come please let me know. We have enough, but are always keen to accommodate more players.
