Hello - New Player
Hello everyone,
I'm a big fan of wargames, and saw Kriegspiel as the next step up from some of the classic, and generally quite complex simulations. I'm blown away by the depth of the game, but I'm unfortunately, quite confused. I've purchased my 1862 Rules from TooFatLardies (that was the right one, correct?). While the rulebook spells out specific situations, I'm still feeling quite lost in terms of the overall game, turns, phases, combat specifics, etc. I'm also trying to find some good pieces/maps to use, any advice on all of that?

Welcome Wittman! - How to get involved in Kriegsspiel
Welcome Wittman! - How to get involved:
1 Set up an email feed from this forum by going to FEEDMYINBOX.COM and inputting your email address with http://www.kriegsspiel.org.uk/rss.php as the source
2 If you are UK based, come along to our next Hertfordshire game on February 18th – we can provide lifts from various places and stations including Watford and London, and give you your first game free of charge with an in depth introduction to the subject (a highly recommended entry route).
3 Get involved in the international online Gettysburg Kriegsspiels you will find being organised elsewhere on this forum – we are just developing online play and there will be a lot of UK-USA games going down soon. Outlay for the software is about £30.
4 Read the other new player intros elsewhere on this forum
5 Check out http://kriegsspiel.homestead.com/
6 Wait for Martin to respond in more depth – I am sure he will!!
7 It would be useful to know where you are located, as there may be more options.
All the best,
Rufus Rex

Ahh, if only I lived in the Isles, unfortunately, I live in the Southwest United States, which makes finding those interested in Kriegspiel a bit of a battle. I have a friend who is interested, but I need another to actually play the game. While I would make it to the game if I was anywhere closer, it's a bit too far. Is there any chance someone could record some of it?

Have a look at these photo's.
It might be an idea in the future for the UK group to do a video diary but as I do not have a video camera it is beyond me.
I hope the photo's give some flavour of what we do.

Mark - excellent photos. Thanks for posting them.
Wittman - welcome from me too. If you haven't already done so, have a look at this thread, which provides some information on the practicalities of running a game.

Please do feel free to come back with further questions though.
