Napoleonic Gettysburg mod

Post  Mr. Digby on Tue Feb 14, 2012 6:14 pm

www (dot) norbsoftdev (dot) net (fwdslash) forum (fwdslash) napoleonic-era

So far just the 1809 Franco-Bavarian and Austro-Hungarian armies of the Eckmuhl and Aspern-Essling campaign are made. It would also seem that MP does not work but the guy writing it is getting support from the devs (squares are now possible for example and the cavalry is much meatier than the ACW cav) so I hope an MP fix will come soon.

Certainly worth keeping an eye on. A HITS MP Napoleonic game would be fantastic.

Yes that would be brilliant. With a combination of the meatier cavalry and ACW infantry we could have a passable simulation of Franco-Prussian War too.

Have been thinking of downloading the Napoleonic mod. Do you find it stable?

I haven't played it yet as I was waiting for MP to get fixed. It seems pretty stable in SP play as far as the forum posts are implying.

Don't know if ACW infantry = 1870, but it certainly could be used for 1859 in N Italy and possibly 1864 in Schleswig.

Either way the main game seems very moddable.

It wouldn't reflect the Chassepot, I guess. Not sure about the artillery.

A lot of this stuff can be modded though can't it. Rifle ranges, rates of fire etc?

I have done some large single player games using this mod and the Antietam map and they were quite fun. Hopefully MP will be up and running soon.

RE: 1870 someone had made a Great Wars of German Unification mod for the original Take Command Second Monassas. one can only hope this might some day be ported over...

Hi guys, first post: I love the Napoleonic era and I would definatley play this mod. The Creative Assembly 'Total War' atttempts leave out too much that the era deserves. Oh to play with the SoW mechanics....dream Zzzzz ahhh!

Looked but can't find it. There's no rush though as I want to fully come to grips with the game as is first. I will no doubt stumble upon the mod ad-hoc.

Love it ! Thanks for pointing me in to right place! I didn't know what it was called of course. My Troops are raising their mugs again.

First attempt got me just over 2000 and captured Ludwig's Prince Royals. Going to take some getting used to the cav. Sent half of them on a scouting mission and never saw them again...Great stuff!

My pleasure. Glad you're enjoying it. I've only played one game - got wiped out by heavy cavalry.

Irresponsible types those cavalrymen. Also, beware sending cavalry off at the gallop. The couriers' horses are no faster, so never catch them Shocked
