Hotchkiss Collection

Post  henridecat on Sat Jan 10, 2009 2:46 pm

A fantastic collection of 340 American Civil War Maps, all of which can be downloaded.

A list of the maps with links to each can be downloaded here http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/collections/maps/hotchkiss/hotchkisslist.pdf

Here is a sample, from "Map of portions of Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland, centering
on Harpers Ferry and including Winchester, Hancock, Emmitsburg, and
Ridgeville, Maryland.] / Engineer Office, A.N.V. ; drawn by Chas. G.
Nauck, Ass't Eng.
"

I second this comment the game I am running uses a beautiful map drawn by Hotchkiss and shows the valley in wonderful detail with individual houses and the names of the owners.
