March Tables

This is a copy of a discussion ported from the old Yahoo group.

Whilst browsing for something else I came across some campaign history
material which included a table of march.

This had dates and formations as the column and line headings and
description of where the corp should be on that day in the "cell". Rest
days were also noted. I could imagine that keeping this updated based
on reports from commanders and the requirements of new orders would be
a key task for army staff and might be useful for an army level game
especially where there might be several days of approach march before
the commencement of major combat.

Obviously the umpire determines the up to date and accurate picture
whilst the player / commander has only reports to work with.

or just go into google books and seach on plotho 1815.

It is all in German. There is text up to page 434 or therabouts and
then there are appendices with orders of battle and the march tables.

Belated thanks for the link Tim.

An awful lot of info there, including OOB stuff that you don't usually see in 1815 campaign histories, such as lists of French and Allied garrisons, and field troops not in Belgium.

Pity about the Gothic script though......
