Western Campaign forum?

Post  Father General on Mon Sep 24, 2012 6:47 pm

A question.

As we move this campaign from concept to reality, it will become necessary to establish a forum where it can be managed.

Are we better served by keeping everything on these forums, or should I set up new, dedicated forums elsewhere?

One feature I'd like to have would be separate forum areas for each side. That being said, I am not sure how much talk to permit between players in the meantime. I'm not so keen on players discussing the fine details of their situations while separated by miles of in-game terrain, however I also want to build camaraderie and cooperation.

I think the easiest way to manage this is a gentleman's rule on the forums. Ultimately, I cannot control player's discussions in the online realm.

(But Providence sees all...)

You're welcome to manage it here if you wish, Neal. Entirely up to you.

When he set up this forum, Richard Madder wisely anticipated this situation and set-up the infrastructure to do what you want..........err I *think*. There are sections for all participants, and also areas for each team,. A bit like Ike's T/S server.

This is under a section called 'Game X' here http://forum.kriegsspiel.org.uk/f27-game-x.

Please feel free to make use of that if you think it does the job.

I would like to manage it here. Anything I can do to promote the KS community, I'm all for it.

We would need three dedicated areas.

1. A community section, sort of a commons where we post the ruleset, announcements, & etc.
2. A Confederate section.
3. A Union section. (*sigh* do we have to get along with them?)

The sections would be mutually exclusive, so Union players can't see what Confederate players post in their respective forums and vice, versa.

How might we go about initiating this?

Once it is set, I can populate it with the map, ruleset, and take the enlistments.

I need a list of who is allowed into each section...

I can set up the forum and sub forums easily enough....

Will do so on Tuesday night if you give forum names to use...

OK just set the forums up. The player forums are not locked so please do not post anything in them until you get a list of names for each one and then I can lock them down to those people.
