Matrix 1.61 Patch (and Brandy Station) released

Post  WJPalmer on Wed Jun 26, 2013 9:09 pm

Matrix has released its official SoW 1.61 patch and claims that it "Updates all instills [sic] of SoW Gettysburg including bringing old NorbSoftDev installers to full Matrix install."

I guess "instills" are holdovers from the good old days of moonshine and revenue-ers?Rolling Eyes

Keeping fingers crossed that the patch is not only bug-free but brings everyone up to a point where there are no issues playing the full range of historical & expansion maps.

Yes, even the revenuers have drones so the stills have been moved inside. Hence the industry term instills.

Now the fun begins. Everyone will have to buy the expansion so they are updated to version 1.61. The beta patch will give a version mismatch error in MP with those that upgraded.

The link above is to a stand-alone patch update. A couple of GCM'ers have already updated to 1.61 without the requirement to buy Brandy Station.

I used the Update option on the game menu when you first start the game. It updated without any issues for me and didn't have to buy Brandy Station.

At $9.99 the expansion is worth buying just for the map. The terrain and semi-open nature would make it a good one for Peninsula or central European battles. I'll make the appropriate command maps soon.

At only $10.00 Norb should have our support.

Yep, I agree. I purchased Brandy Station mainly for the map. But glad there's an option for those who can't or won't buy the expansion.

Yes, all right then, I'll buy the Brandy Station expansion!  Wink

(A bit later): purchased it, got my serial number etc etc, but the store server is very busy. I'll try to download the expansion tomorrow morning.

Just downloaded Brandy Station.  Only the one map, but it is a nice one, with plenty of spring flowers on it.  I like flowers.

It's much more open than most of the ACW ones so far produced, so good for European battles.  There is a railroad line, but most of the map is free, so we could easily fight a Napoleonic game on it.  Ideal for a FPW or kriegsspiel battle.

You also get 10 scenarios.
