Dratt!!

I just checked my diary and as I had failed to put this date in it I have already organised a game that weekend.

If it gets called off (my game that is) I will endeavor to get down there.

From what Steve was talking about on Saturday it sounds like a real treat and not one to miss.

Sad

I shall plug the game to Andy and Jere and see if we can get them down to Hemel.

14th March game

Post  gunboat diplomat on Wed Feb 25, 2009 10:27 pm

Hi all

Well, Ive taken the plunge and am putting the finishing touches to my first game as organiser!

It will be a late 1800's North West Frontier game. I think it should be suitable for five players on the British side (a Cin C and upto four unit commanders).

Ideally there will be four/five opposition/umpires.

More detailed briefings will be circulated in due course.

Can I confirm who is coming and any preferences for roles.

Towards the end of next week (hopefullly!) I will then circulate some more detailed individual briefs etc.

So, takers to give Johnny foreigner a good thrashing/crush the infidels??

Best regards

Steve

I think it would be great to have a brief comment after each event so people have an idea of what is going on. A full write-up would arrive in due course at a later date.

Dear all

I have made direct contact with the players and umpires for next Saturdays game. For those interested I attach the General idea and will update with an after action report in due course.

There is still space for a couple of players/umpires if anyone wants to take part.

Cheers

Steve

The North West Frontier. Late Summer 1897.

The frontier has been in turmoil throughout the Summer. Following exhortations from the ‘Mad Mullah’ to expel the infidel attacks have taken place on Blue military and political centres throughout the province.
A political officer has been murdered in Tochi and attacks have been made by Red tribesmen on the Blue garrison at Malakand. Telegraph lines have been destroyed and survey expeditions slaughtered.
A number of tribes have taken up arms but many remain apparently neutral.
Nowhere has been safe for Europeans and there is a danger that without strong action the Frontier will again become lawless and uncontrollable.
On the Frontier only fear of Blues military power will keep wavering tribes in check.
With the ‘Great Game’ in full swing the gateway to India from the North West must be stabilised.
As the Summer has progressed more Blue troops have arrived on the Frontier. Initial plans to secure key centres have been successful.
The Red tribes have lost the initiative and the Blue Government are keen to reassert authority. A number of ‘Field Forces’ have been formed to punish the recalcitrant Red tribes and bring them to order.
The Malakand Field Force, commanded by Maj. Gen Sir Bindon Blood has been in the field for seven weeks. After a series of engagements the ‘Mad Mullah’ has retired to the Badmenai pass with a large body of Mohmand tribesmen.
The Malakand Field Force is marching South West through Bajaur.
The time for negotiation has passed and the only way to ensure the tribes remain quiet is through fear of Britains colonial power.

A great game and well played by the team, ably lead by Martin.

Gave a good period feel and plenty of action with a good conclusion.

Thanks for the entertainment and taking my mind off my cold.

Cheers MJ
